2 Weeks Old and First doctor appointment.

We had our very first doctor's appointment yesterday and everything went well. The only thing I was told was that Gates is favoring her left side. She is, but I did not notice that she has a "shelf" So, we are supposed to make sure that she has more time on her right side. Otherwise, she will need to wear a helmet.

In six more weeks we will go back for her shots. They give me all these papers to fill out, and I always get so confused when it says name. Am I supposed to put my name or her name? I know, this probably seems so dumb, but I am just used to putting my own name. I am sure I will get used to being a mommy someday.

Gates likes to sleep. I am hoping that she continues this trend. She likes to sleep more in the day than in the night... THat is a trend I would not mind her changing. We went on a walk today, and got some sun. It is nice to get out of my living room sometimes. I do appreciate the sunny day and stetching my legs.

Cute Pictures

Mark and Steve came to visit. Mark is Gates's Godfather. Steve asked me what that made him??? Hmmmmm, I am not sure what that role is... :)
She digs the Boppy. Notice the feet... I am not good at the swaddle. I need to go back for more training...
Do they look alike? Some say that Gates looks just like her daddy! All I know is that they are both pretty darn cute!

Today we took Gates on her first walk. She slept like this the whole time. I think she liked getting the fresh air though, I know I did!!!

A few things

1st, for breast engorgement cabbage really does help. Who knew? Well, 2 people told me, so I gave it a try. It really does help!! Just a tip, if ever you need some relief. :)
I have been having a bit of high blood pressure, so I went to the doctor, and lo and behold am now on high blood pressure medicine. Not something I am really thrilled about, but hopefully it goes down and I can get off of it. The doctor told me if I lose weight it will help... (not my OB) I was like lady, I just had a baby.
Anyways, because of the BP I have been feeling a bit off and resting a lot. I was lying on the couch on my pillow (which my dog had been sitting on) and something smelled so terrible. I changed the pillowcase, and I asked my mom what stunk so bad... She said she did not smell anything too bad. About 20 minutes later, I went in to use the bathroom. I called out to my mom..."I figured out what that bad smell is, It is THE CABBAGE in my bra!!!"

Oh What a Week!

What a week it has been for us!
I can not describe the love and comfort that I feel. I just love all of the friends and family that we have and Thank You just does not seem like enough. This is the best time of our lives, and I just feel so blessed to have so many people to share with us and help us with things right now!

Between Anne Marie and Jenny, I am getting all sorts of good baby info!

So far, I have called Jenny about do-do, my body, bumps on Gates, eating schedule, and hiccups. The thing is, she keeps answering!!! Every question, every time... We should try and stump Jenny, I do not think we can though.... (I promise I am not trying to play that game either Jenny...) They brought us food today and we got to introduce Keelan and Gates.

My blood pressure seems to be getting better, (although I hardly get up and walk around)

To all of you mommies out there, I am so sorry I did not bring you dinner. I now know what a huge help it is and I will be bringing dinner to you on all future kids!!!! (Maybe not Kim P, because she is due Tuesday)... :)
Gates seems to really like her playmat... So does Scrabble.

Gates is Here!!!

Gates was born Monday at 4:32 P.M.!!!!

She was 7 pounds and 7 ounces, and 20.5 inches long... Of course, Brandon and I think she is just about as perfect as can be. Thanks to all of our special friends and family for so many prayers and thoughts! So far we know she likes her swing...And that is a picture of us leaving the hospital, all in pink to celebrate our new girl!!

Oh What a Night

Last night was perfect. Now, let me try and describe it to you.

Brandon and I were invited to dinner in Frisco at our friend's (the Hakes) house. We were to be there at 7:30 for a last prebaby dinner. We arrive at their house and ring the doorbell at 7:30.
Jennifer (another of our very good friends) opens the door and welcomes us. She says our reservation is ready and takes us to the dining room table where it is set with beautiful china and crystal and candles. Set for two. I must interject here and say that when I saw the "hostess" I began crying. However, so did the "hostess"

Jennifer sat us at this beautiful table and gave us our menus. She told us our waiter would be right with us, and then she disappeared. A few moments later Mark, our waiter and another dear friend, came out, apron and all. I had talked to Mark on my way to Frisco, and he told me he was going to a Gay Red Raiders meeting. Looking back, I thought that was kind of fishy... :)

With Mark, was our sommelier (I am not sure on spelling of this fancy word). This was Jon. Jon brought out a bottle of wine, with a hand-made label reading The Gates of Heaven made by the Oakley Vineyard.... (FYI, more tears)...

Brandon and I ate our spectacular dinner of, baby back ribs, baby chicken bites, baby carrots, baby spinach salad, baby potatoes, baby shrimp dip, and baby sausage bites! YUMMY. It was all very elegant and very tastey.

Jenny put a sheet up over her kitchen, so we could not see anything that was going on inside. After we were finished eating, our waiter informed us that we would be having company for dessert. Alas, our wonderful friends came to the table and had chocolate cake with us! Now, a proper toast to you four special friends.....

Thank you friends, a special four
Our night was perfect from opening the door!!!

How perfect a night, and special you ALL are,
For your restaurant & our evening were both 5 STAR!!!!!!

So to our chef, hostess, waiter, and sommelier: Thank you so much, you are all truly wonderful people and friends. Our little daughter is going to be so lucky to have all of you in her life (Keelan too)....

No More Nesting

I had another doctor's appointment and things have not changed. Well, my blood pressure has changed, but that is about it. My blood pressure was pretty high, and she just told me to take it easy and do not exercise and call if I get headaches. I am hoping that the blood pressure goes down by Tuesday, when I go to the doctor again. I am not going to exert too much energy this weekend or next week. I think I nested myself into a frenzy.
I am thinking of renting One Tree Hill and watching it until I have a baby. I have never seen it before, but have heard it is a good show. I am looking forward to a nice weekend. The weather seems pretty nice, not that I have gone outside... I turned down the air to 68 last night, I was convinced that if I got too hot, my blood pressure might go up! I know, ridiculous, but I like it cold, and I did not want to get a BP induced headache.... I am sure all my worrying really helped!

Today I found a giant (pretty sure it was poisonous, it was so big) spider. It got me thinking that maybe I needed to have the bugman come out and spray prior to Gates's arrival. Does anyone know a good bugman in the Hurst area??? I have forgotten who I used last time. I then decided to clean the house and vacuum and do laundry. The only problem was that I am out of Tide, so I did all of the laundry with Dreft. Now, I need Tide and Dreft. Tomorrow my mom is coming over and she is going to go with me to the doctor. I am looking forward to her visit. I am lucky she is coming, because most days she has to play bridge. :)
I am reading a good book. It is called The Woods, written by Harlen Coben. If any of you like to read mystery books, I highly recommend this guy.

DUNCAN

That little bird killer is driving me CRAZY!!!!!!!!!! He is the world's most barkingest dog.... ever....
He barks at squirrels, birds, leaves, dirt, people walking by, the wind, the rain, the mailman, the neighbor's dog, (that is the main culprit).... He is driving me nuts.
He was just going COMPLETELY NUTS, so I took my camera in to capture his insanity. Now, none of you are going to believe me that he is not the sweetest little dog ever.... At least I found something that will hush him up!

Doctor Update

Well, I went to the doctor this morning and had a routine visit. :) Gates is now about 6 pounds and my cervix is still closed. I am probably going to last until the due date. I got a Z pack of antiobiotics, because I have a bit of a sinus infection. I am hoping that it will completely clear up before the baby comes!!!
